The
UAE is an abbreviation of the United Arab Emirates. The UAE is a
country, consisting of seven smaller ‘emirates’ which are similar
to states. The seven states are:
1. ABU DHABI
Abu Dhabi Corniche |
Abu
Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, sits off the mainland
on an island in the Persian Gulf. Its focus on oil exports and
commerce is reflected by the skyline’s modern towers and shopping
megacenters such as Abu Dhabi and Marina malls. Beneath white-marble
domes, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque features an immense Persian carpet,
crystal chandeliers and capacity for 41,000 worshipers.
2. DUBAI
Burj Khalifa |
Dubai
is a city in the United Arab Emirates known for luxury shopping,
ultramodern architecture and a lively nightlife scene. Burj Khalifa,
an 830m-tall tower, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline. At its
foot lies Dubai Fountain, with jets and lights choreographed to
music. On man-made islands just offshore is Atlantis, the Palm, a
resort with water and marine-animal parks.
3. SHARJAH
Sharjah's Central Market |
Sharjah
is the third largest and third most populous city in the United Arab
Emirates, forming part of the Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman metropolitan area.
It is located along the northern coast of the Persian Gulf on the
Arabian Peninsula.

of Oman and none on the Persian Gulf.
6. RAS AL KHAIMAH
Ras Al-Khaiman National Museum |
Ras
al-Khaimah is a member of the United Arab Emirates. Its name could be
taken to mean "Top of the tent" or alternatively "headland
of the small hut". The emirate is in the northern part of the
UAE, bordering Oman's exclave of Musandam.
7. UMM AL QAIWAIN
Umm Al-Quwain Fort and Museum |
